Granny Keck's visit

Last Saturday, Granny and Uncle Gary came up from Anderson for a short visit. Preston is 6 weeks old here. You see how much Granny was enjoying him, he's such a little cutie pie!

We spent the afternoon in Gatlinburg looking in all the shops. The girls had lots of fun posing for pictures. It was freezing out there!

The weather was good and cold and this was the first snow we had seen all winter. The girls enjoyed themselves very much!

Valentine's Day

Lydia wanted to make a Valentine dessert everyone and Shiloh was her helper. Strawberry cake with jam filling covered with whipped cream!

Popscicle Day!

Lydia made a delicious meal of barbecued chicken, sauteed zucchini, pasta, and salad.

Dr. Driesbach has alot of artifacts in his office along with alot of pictures. A man he knew carved a piece of acacia wood into the shape of Africa by using a picture that Dr. Driesbach had. Only the man had never seen a map of Africa before so he had carved it backwards the first time! Dr Driesbach loved to read about the life of Mary Slessor when he was only little. God used her life and testimony to draw his heart toward missions and especially Africa.

This is a picture of a woman with big wooden plates tucked into her lips. They started when the woman was little and used small plates and as she grew they increased the size of the plates. Dr. Driesbach has these wooden plates in his office. ugh!

The other day, Lydia and I and two of her friends and their mothers were able to spend a good hour with Dr. Driesbach at his office. He has over 2,000 books on his shelves about missionaries and missions. He wants all the kids from church to be able to read his books so that maybe through their reading, God might call one or more of them to the mission field. Dr. Driesbach spent many years on the continent of Africa. He is in his 80's and still makes a trip to the far north of Camaroon as often as he can.
